People, if you watched and enjoyed The Book of Life, and wants to dress or cosplay as La Muerte/Catrina, Manolo, María, Joaquín or even Xibalba because you appreciate them: Do it.
Believe me, as a %100 mexican I can tell you this movie IS NOT racist. We mexicans WON’T get upset if you want to dress like the characters. I can assure you I would LOVE to see your costumes. We LOVE when people from other countries gets interested in our culture or traditions, the fact Día de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday doesn’t means only mexicans can dress as La Muerte. If you want to celebrate Día de los Muertos for a person who isn’t here anymore, do it, that person will thank you.
Día de los Muertos is about love. Not egoism. Meanwhile you dress in a respectful way, dress whoever the heck you want. Remember: La Muerte is not “sexy” she’s a queen, a goddess, powerful, BEAUTIFUL.
What if La Muerte and Xibabla made another wager on whether Manny Rivera would become good or evil?
the book of life was so good my favorite part was when the whole movie
so okay i just need to make a post about this new anime i started watching, Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de Aru
it’s a magical girl anime, and one of the main characters is disabled
Togo was in an accident when she was little and hasn’t been able to move or feel her legs since. of course, i fucking lost my shit at a main character in an anime this season being disabled, but i was kind of curious and apprehensive about how they were going to handle her disability when she transforms.
see those ribbons? togo isn’t magically healed when she transformed, making her disability just something to make her unique when she’s a human. no, those ribbons are how she moves. her legs still don’t work, but the ribbons on her costume get her around and maneuver her so she can fight just as good as the other girls.
I AM SO. FUCKING. HAPPY.
DISABLED REPRESENTATION MATTERS.
SOUNDS LIKE A NEW ANIME TO WATCH
